Tinny is a quiet fishing game for Apple Vision Pro. We collect only what we need to run the game and the website, and to learn which parts people enjoy.

Here's everything we collect, why we collect it, and how to have it removed. This policy covers the Tinny app and the website at playtinny.com. "We" and "us" means the team that makes Tinny.

In short: there's no account and no sign-in. We never ask for your name, and we don't use advertising trackers or sell anything about you. Your nickname comes from a list of words, and your profile is tied to a random ID made on your device, not to who you are.

The Tinny app

Hand tracking and your surroundings

Tinny uses hand tracking so you can hold the oars, the fishing rod and rocks. Your hand and head positions are processed on your Apple Vision Pro. When you play solo, they never leave the device. When you play with others, see "Playing with others" below. Tinny doesn't use your cameras or your microphone, and it doesn't scan your room.

Your player profile

The first time you play, Tinny makes a random profile ID and a secret key on your device. Our server keeps a profile under that ID, which holds:

Other players can see your nickname, your catch collection and your latest catches.

To delete your profile, open the tackle box at your feet, go to your profile and choose "Delete my profile". This permanently removes your profile and all your catches from our server. If you play again, you start with a fresh, unconnected profile.

Playing with others

When you choose "With Others", Tinny connects to a shared lagoon. While you're there, these details are sent to the other players in your room as you play, so they can see you on the water:

These positions are passed on live and aren't stored. We do keep a short log of what happens in each room, such as when nicknames join or leave, catches, and race results, so we can keep online play working and fair.

There's no text or voice chat.

How the game is used

The app sends us simple usage events, so we know which parts of Tinny people use and where they get stuck. Examples include opening the app, choosing solo or online, catching a fish, opening the book and tuning the radio. Each event carries:

Deleting your profile disconnects these events from any future play. If you'd also like the past events for your profile removed, email us and tell us your nickname.

Books you import

Books you import into Tinny stay on your device. They're never uploaded to us.

Purchases

Tinny+ is sold through the App Store. Apple handles the payment, and we never see your payment details or your Apple Account. The app only learns whether Tinny+ is unlocked.

Analytics

We run our own simple analytics, with no Google Analytics, no advertising pixels and no cookies. To recognise a returning browser, the site keeps a random ID in your browser's local storage. We record:

We don't store your IP address. To clear the random ID, clear this site's data in your browser.

"Get notified" signups

If you sign up, we keep your email address, whether you asked to join the TestFlight beta, and where you signed up from. We use your email address only to tell you about Tinny's launch and the beta. To remove it, email us at any time.

Fonts

The site's typeface is loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google to fetch it. You can read Google's privacy policy.

Where your data is kept

The website, online play and everything listed above are hosted on Cloudflare, which processes requests on our behalf. We don't sell your information, and we don't share it with anyone for advertising. We'd only disclose it if the law required us to.

We keep data only as long as it's useful for running and improving Tinny. You can ask us to delete it at any time.

Children

Tinny has no chat, no free text and no personal details to share, so it's suitable for all ages. We don't knowingly collect personal information, such as an email address, from children under 13. If you think a child has signed up on the website, email us and we'll remove the address.

Changes

If we change what we collect, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
